HDPE ExxonMobil HMA‑025

HDPE ExxonMobil HMA‑025 Resin

Material Introduction: HDPE ExxonMobil HMA‑025 is high‑density polyethylene supplied as non‑toxic, tasteless and odorless plastic pellets for injection‑molding. Featuring high rigidity, favorable processability and good chemical resistance, it is widely used for industrial containers and daily‑use goods requiring sufficient mechanical strength.

Main Applications

Industrial containers & packaging: medium‑small‑size buckets, pallets, turnover boxes, cargo bins, plastic crates.

Daily‑use articles: high‑strength household goods such as large‑capacity water buckets and bathtubs.

Performance Parameters

Performance Category Test Item Test Method / Condition Value & Unit Remarks & Interpretation
Basic Properties Density ASTM D‑1505 0.964 g/cm³ HDPE grade, high hardness and good rigidity.
Melt Flow Rate (MFR) ASTM D‑1238 (190°C/2.16 kg) 8.0 g/10 min Good flowability, well‑suited for injection molding and fast cavity filling.
Mechanical Properties Tensile Yield Strength ISO 527‑2/1A/50 26.0‑27.0 MPa High value represents good tensile‑deformation resistance. Data varies among different sources.
Elongation at Break ISO 527‑2/1A/50 >100 % Excellent toughness and ductility, tolerates large deformation without fracture.
Flexural Modulus ISO 178 1150‑1200 MPa High modulus means strong bending‑deformation resistance. Data varies among different sources.
Izod Notched Impact Strength ISO 180/1A 6.0 kJ/m² Indicator of impact resistance.
Environmental Stress‑Cracking Resistance (ESCR) ASTM D‑1693 (50°C, 10% Igepal) 3‑4 hrs Higher value stands for better stress‑cracking resistance. Data varies among different sources.
Thermal Properties Melting Peak Temperature ASTM D‑3418 134‑135 °C Complete melting temperature of material. Data varies among different sources.
Heat‑Deflection Temperature (0.45 MPa, non‑annealed) ISO 75‑2/B 66.0‑76.0 °C Heat resistance under load. Data varies among different sources.

Injection‑Molding Process Parameters

Process Parameters Recommended Range Remarks & Interpretation (General HDPE characteristics)
Drying Treatment Normally not required HDPE is non‑hygroscopic (moisture absorption ≤0.01%). Optional drying: 60℃ for 1 hour to remove surface moisture for better product quality.
Barrel Temperature 180‑230 ℃ Crystalline polymer; temperature shall exceed melting point (~142℃), below decomposition temperature (300℃). Rear section set lower value, front section set higher value; target ~220℃.
Mold Temperature 50‑70 ℃ Mold temperature greatly influences crystallization. Higher mold temperature brings higher crystallinity and strength together with larger shrinkage. 10‑20℃ higher than LDPE (LDPE mold temp:30‑45℃).
Injection Pressure 50‑100 MPa Good flowability; adopt lower pressure except for thin‑wall long‑flow‑path parts. Lower pressure for simple thick‑wall parts, higher pressure for complex parts.
Holding Pressure 40%‑60% of injection pressure Avoid excessive holding pressure and long holding time to reduce internal stress.
Back Pressure 0.5‑1.5 MPa Low back pressure for melt compaction; high back pressure will generate excessive shear heat.
Screw Speed Medium speed Prevent excessive shear‑induced heat build‑up.
